The Miracle League of Fond du Lac enhances community cohesiveness, while promoting health and well-being of individuals with disabilities. Establishing a local Miracle League, which includes a fully accessible baseball field and playground, also places Fond du Lac on the map as a progressive community committed to inclusive recreation options for all residents.
What is the Miracle League?
It’s hope, determination and a display of human spirit that is unequaled. And of course…there’s baseball.
Miracle Leagues create unique opportunities to challenge, understand, and correct misconceptions about individuals with special needs. For individuals facing physical and mental disabilities, the opportunity to play baseball can often be difficult to achieve. Baseball diamonds weren’t exactly designed with wheelchairs and walking devices in mind.
The Miracle League of Fond du Lac is a program offered by Brooke Industries, Inc., that provides a safe, successful and enjoyable baseball experience for children, teens and adults with special needs. The league will offer adaptive baseball on an accessible field, removing the barriers that would normally keep individuals off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime: Baseball!

But it’s more than playing a game. It’s about building self-esteem, meeting new friends and being treated just like any other athlete. To help the athletes, the Miracle League uses a “buddy” system—pairing each player with an able-bodied peer (if needed or requested). The result is a bond that cannot be described. The point of the game is less about baseball and more about fun! The benefits gained by everyone involved are extraordinary!
The Miracle League of Fond du Lac will promote physical activity, camaraderie, a sense of teamwork, and fun for all of those who participate. Every time a participant with special needs, friend, family, or volunteer takes the field or visits the playground, the Miracle League can deliver life-changing events.

There will be numerous opportunities to help out with the Miracle League once construction of the complex is
complete. Volunteer positions will include Buddies (only need to be 12 years old), Coaches, Team Parents,
